Multiple times being selected as supplier of complete monitoring solutions for large solar power plants in e.g. Egypt, Denmark, Thailand and the Netherlands, Gantner has, in the past 12 months, repeatedly confirmed its position as a leading global player in utility scale PV industry.
After participating in two 50MW projects in Kazakhstan before, Gantner will provide its complete monitoring solution to the biggest solar farm in Central Asia, Saran, expanding its exposure in the country by another 100MW. For Saran, Gantner delivers a Q.reader as a data logger and Power plant controller, DC Combiner boxes, Meteo stations, and Gantner.webportal as SCADA system.
Gantner's monitoring and control solution is an optimized, individually tailored system and is based on the newest technology. All components have been carefully selected to comply with the extreme climate in the area. One challenge is the anticipated large ambient temperature range from -40 to 50°C as well as harsh winters with snow storms and ice.
Q.reader data logger and Power plant controller
The heart of the monitoring solution is the inverter independent datalogger Q.reader which tracks and controls all power plant information. The scalable modular design allows to control up to 100MW by one Q.reader. As Power plant controller (PPC) it provides all important functionality as absolute production constraint, power gradient constraint, voltage control, power factor control etc. The PPC fulfills the requirements of the Solar Energy Plants Grid Connection Code. Also grid communication is in the scope of our solution and based on IEC 60870 standard.
DC Combiner boxes
Gantners latest string level monitoring devices, string.bloxx, provide current measurements 10 times more accurate compared with competing monitoring solutions, not susceptible to temperature variance. Designed as an integral component of our individually customized DC Combiner boxes (DCB) string.CB/CC they are applicable for string voltage up to 1500V and dimensioned for up to 32 PV strings. The composition of our highly demanded DCBs has been ten of thousand times successfully proven itself in various solar projects, often with very special requirements in terms of both technical performance and of regional standards as well as in extreme climatic conditions.
Meteorological data such as solar irradiance, ambient temperature, module surface temperature, and wind parameters are monitored according to IEC 61853 standard.
Commissioning of the power plant will be performed onsite by our engineers. Remote support is provided via high security connection with help of gantner.RAS. Gantner.RAS is a remote access service for global fleet management of onsite DAQ devices.
Cloud based analysis software
Gantner.webportal is a cloud-based software solution for PV monitoring, data storage, visualization and analysis. Automated reporting and a dashboard provide traceability of the PV plant performance for the investor/owner. Forecasting for PV power production is based on semi-physical models that make use of PV system configuration information. Gantner.webportal is fully compliant with international standards as IEC 61724-2.
