New EPA ozone rules could add up to more than a trillion dollars in costs for manufacturers, according to the National Association of Manufacturers.
The trade group based its findings on a study by NERA Economic Consulting. It says the ripple through the country's economy would be huge, slicing $140 billion off the GDP and causing the loss of 1.4 million jobs by 2040.
The EPA says the new rules would benefit children, the elderly and those who suffer from asthma.
