Upgraded 770MX CNC Mill Delivers EtherCAT Motion and Higher Spindle Power

Tormach has upgraded its 770MX CNC mill with motion control, increased spindle output, and operator-focused enhancements while maintaining the same base price as the previous configuration. The compact milling machine is designed for shops, labs, and workspaces that require high machining performance in a small footprint.

The 770MX now uses an absolute encoder EtherCAT servo motion system with an EtherCAT-based control platform for the spindle and axes, enabling integrated feedback and faster, more responsive motion control. Spindle output is rated at 2 hp (1.49 kW) continuous power and 4.5 hp (3.36 kW) peak intermittent power, while operating on single-phase power.

Maximum feed rates reach 450 in/min (11,430 mm/min) on the X and Y axes and 420 in/min (10,668 mm/min) on the Z axis. The machine provides a working envelope of 14 x 7.5 x 13.25 in (355.6 x 190.5 x 336.6 mm) for machining a wide range of materials and part sizes.

Operator and usability updates include a standard 21.5 in (546 mm) touchscreen operator console and built-in load meters for both the spindle and axes. Additional updates include an integrated front-mounted air gun, improved side-loading windows, a door latch, and mounting locations for tool holder racks and wall control-compatible storage solutions.

The 770MX is offered in two standard configurations: a factory-assembled model with an automatic tool changer and flood coolant system, and a self-assembled model shipped in components for on-site assembly. The CNC mill is available starting at $25,995.
