SX Series Explosion-Proof Electric Motor With Two-Speed Output

Finish Thompson's SX Series Explosion-Proof Electric Motor is an electrically powered, explosion-proof and flame-proof motor for drum and barrel pump applications. It is built for use with EFS Series drum pump and container pump systems and is intended for transferring flammable, combustible, and non-flammable fluids in hazardous locations.

The motor uses a two-speed configuration to support different transfer requirements. At full speed, it delivers up to 17 GPM (64 LPM) for non-flammable fluids. At low speed, it provides 7 GPM (26.5 LPM) for non-flammable fluids and up to 4 GPM (15 LPM) for flammable or combustible liquids. This allows a 55-gal (200 L) drum to be emptied in just over 3 minutes, while the lower speed supports controlled filling of smaller containers with reduced splashing.

The motor weighs 6.6 lb (3 kg) and is designed for continuous operation, allowing multiple containers to be emptied consecutively without overheating or loss of performance. A built-in grounding lug allows the motor, pump tube, and container to be bonded and grounded together to dissipate static electricity.

The SX Series is available in three models for worldwide operation:

• The S1X model is rated at 115V and is certified explosion-proof and flame-proof for Class 1, Division 1, Group D environments with a T3 temperature rating. It is suitable for ambient temperatures from -4 to 104°F (-20 to 40°C).
• The S2X model is rated at 230V and is certified to CE, ATEX, and ICEx standards for II 2G Ex db IIB T5 Gb environments, with the same ambient temperature range of -4 to 104°F (-20 to 40°C).
• The S3X-HT model is intended for higher-temperature environments up to 140°F (60°C) and carries the same certifications as the S2X model.

All SX Series models include a 12 ft (4 m) cord to support flexible installation and access to power sources.
