Pfannenberg's VLV 4-12 and DMC 8.0 compact chillers for battery energy storage systems (BESS) provide precise and efficient battery temperature control.

The VLV 4-12 Chiller is an off-grid unit that integrates directly inside BESS containers or cabinets, operating on direct DC power from 570 to 800V, eliminating the need for conversion equipment and simplifying design.

The system performs in ambient temperatures from -13 to 113°F (-25 to 45°C) and includes an internal heater to maintain minimum liquid temperatures during winter operation. Variable frequency drive technology, a micro-channel condenser, and EC fans reduce energy consumption. Its narrow profile and structural notch allow installation in confined spaces, and Modbus TCP communication provides integration with battery management systems.

The DMC 8.0 Chiller offers a door-mounted configuration that saves space while supporting wall-mounted or semi-recessed installation. Designed for operation in environments from -4 to 122°F (-20 to 50°C), it incorporates an inverter-driven compressor and high-efficiency EC fans for accurate temperature control and low noise levels. An integrated heater supports battery function during stand-by mode in cold conditions. The compact design delivers a higher cooling capacity relative to its footprint, with Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP interfaces for monitoring and management connectivity.
