SICK's Visionary AI-Assist is an AI-based sensor solution for outdoor collision avoidance, environmental monitoring, and the detection of people and objects. Combining 2D and 3D image processing, it determines object distance and reliably identifies people even in challenging conditions to prevent false alarms.

The system consists of the Visionary-B Two 3D stereo camera and AI-Assist software. The camera provides distance measurement, object detection, and environmental perception in both indoor and outdoor environments. The AI-Assist software applies artificial intelligence to classify people, assess hazards within a mobile machine’s workspace, and issue targeted warnings.

Visionary AI-Assist integrates data acquisition, processing, and output in one device without requiring additional sensor hardware, a separate controller, or cloud integration. Using stereoscopy, the system generates three-dimensional point clouds from two-dimensional images. The adjustable field of view ranges from 130 x 105 degrees with a scanning distance of 52 ft (16 m) to 90 x 60 degrees with a scanning distance of 121 ft (37 m). Detection zones for people or objects can be customized for specific application needs.

Configuration and visualization are platform-independent via a web browser. For control-related integration, the device includes digital inputs and outputs, Ethernet with REST API and RTSP live video streaming, and CAN based on J1939, supporting flexible integration into mobile machines across various industries.

Developed for mobile applications, Visionary AI-Assist operates on 10 to 57V DC and withstands temperatures from –40 to 131°F (–40 to 55°C). It meets IP67, IP69, and IPx9K protection ratings and complies with EMC standards EN ISO 14982 (agriculture and forestry), EN 13766 (construction machinery), and EN 12895 (industrial trucks). The unit is also vibration and shock-tested for demanding environments.

A range of integration accessories supports use on new or existing mobile machines. Mounting kits with optional vibration damping ensure stable installation, while power and Ethernet cables handle supply and connectivity. A protective hood guards the unit from rain, dust, and sunlight.
