RobustFeed AVS ECHO Wire Feeder Simplifies Voltage Adjustment

ESAB's RobustFeed AVS ECHO is a voltage-sensing wire feeder featuring ECHO communication technology. This system allows operators to adjust both voltage and wire feed speed directly at the feeder without the need for a communication or control cable to the power source.

The feeder uses weld cables to transmit voltage data to compatible power sources in the Warrior series (400i, 500i, or 750i) when outfitted with the required ECHO upgrade kit. The system compensates for voltage drop after the first weld, improving accuracy when using long cables, which is common in offshore, railcar, ship/barge, construction, and maintenance applications.

The front panel includes voltage and amperage controls, digital meters, 2T or 4T trigger control, gas purge, wire jog, a CC/CV mode switch, and an optional internal gas flow meter. The case provides IP54-rated weatherproof protection with a sealed wire feed compartment, impact- and abrasion-resistant housing, and integrated strain relief.

Designed for portability, the feeder has three crane-certified handles, two additional lifting points, and an optional wheel kit that allows for horizontal or vertical mounting. The HMI can rotate 90 degrees for visibility in either configuration.

The unit accepts 8 and 12-in (20 and 30 cm) wire spools, measures 23 x 10 x 17 in (58 x 25 x 43 cm), and weighs 40.5 lb (18 kg). It feeds solid wires up to 5/64 in, cored wires up to 3/32 in, and offers a wire feed speed range of 51 to 985 in/min. The feeder delivers up to 500 amps with a duty cycle of 100% at 350 amps. A 4-wheel drive mechanism with encoder-controlled feeding provides precision performance.
