TRUMPF's Material Flow Starter Kit is a solution designed to automate material transport in sheet metal production without requiring companies to fully digitize or network their operations. The system uses mobile robots to move palletized materials between machines, manual workstations, and shipping areas.

The robots are operated through a web application accessible on any mobile device within the user's network. Production employees can request a vehicle with just a few clicks, allowing them to load workpieces onto the robot without leaving their workstation. Each robot can serve up to nine stations and supports as many as eight transfer points per station. With a transport capacity of up to 1 ton (907 kg), the robots accommodate most sheet metal components.

System setup involves a service technician guiding the robot through the facility with a tablet. The vehicle uses onboard sensors to scan its surroundings and generate a virtual map. The technician then creates routes and process steps—such as bending, punching, and laser cutting—in the software. Transport orders are transmitted through the web application, enabling the robot to navigate autonomously and safely.

The Material Flow Starter Kit also provides a pathway for gradual digitalization. Once in use, companies can extend their operations with additional software to synchronize material flow directly with production planning.
