All Profile Cutter (APC) Robotic Plasma Coping System Delivers Unlimited Cutting Freedom
HGG's APC is a robotic plasma coping system for structural steel fabrication. It combines a patented 360-degree rotating robot, a next-generation gripper, and the Hypertherm XPR300 plasma source with true hole technology to deliver precise cutting across all common steel profiles, pipes, and hollow sections.
The XPR300 enables hole cutting and weld preparation, including K-bevels and ratholes, while meeting standards such as EN1019 and ISO9013 up to EXC3. The system applies specialized cutting routines to minimize rework and secondary processing.
Before cutting, a high-speed laser measurement system creates a complete 3D image of material deviations. This process improves cutting accuracy compared to conventional probing and eliminates the need for additional correction.
The gripper automatically clamps profiles, synchronizes with the robot, and integrates a fume extraction point for safer operation. The system also includes integrated marking options for part identification, a quick-disconnect torch for rapid tool-free changes, and a redesigned HMI that reduces skill requirements and downtime.
The APC's compact cutting cell is designed to maximize floor space efficiency, with the infeed conveyor positioned externally. Its design supports continuous operation by loading new material while the gripper returns to the starting position, increasing throughput.
The CNC robotic 7-axis plasma cutter allows for intricate cutting, while the system's combined movements improve torch-on time. With the ability to handle beams, pipes, box sections, flat-bar, angle-bar, and channels without modification, the APC is designed to replace multiple machines within the shop environment.
