Mobile Robot Cell Simplifies Small-Part Bending Automation
Flex Cell is a mobile bending automation cell designed to work with Trumpf's TruBend 7050 press brake. In just a few steps, operators can dock the robot cell to the machine and begin automated operation. The system can run unattended for several hours, making it well-suited to night shifts and lights-out production. The combined footprint of the Flex Cell and the TruBend 7050 is under 107 sq ft.
The system features a vacuum combination gripper on the robot arm for efficient loading and unloading. A double-sized material buffer ensures that the machine has enough input to run throughout extended shifts. The Flex Cell uses Trumpf's TecZone Bend software to generate bending programs in seconds. Operators can then use an app and a teach panel to program the robot.
Designed specifically for small and simple parts, the Flex Cell supports components up to 23.6 x 15.75 in and sheet thicknesses from 0.03 to 0.23 in. The system also includes automatic double-sheet detection, which ejects stuck-together material to reduce scrap and material waste.
