PR-12 and PR-24 Syringe Systems Combine Insertion and Labeling
PR-12 and PR-24 plunger rod insertion and labeling systems integrate precise rod insertion with high-speed, wrap-around labeling in a single compact unit for use with prefilled liquid injectable syringes. The automated torque regulation adjusts torque based on individual syringes to avoid over or under-tightening during rod insertion.
The systems accommodate plunger placement tolerances of ±0.2 in (±5 mm) to ensure accurate seating of the rod without affecting plunger height or disrupting the aseptic seal. Designed for syringes ranging from 0.5 to 5 mL, the PR-12 achieves speeds of up to 300 syringes per minute, while the PR-24 supports speeds of up to 600 syringes per minute.
Syringes are transported through the system using a synchronized feedscrew and rotary dial with mechanical grippers. Labeling is performed on a second rotary dial with vertical trunnion rollers to ensure consistent application. A continuous-motion vacuum drum label dispenser with three contact points helps minimize label skew and reduce web breaks. The systems use the same label head and dispensing technology found on other models and support redundant label heads for uninterrupted operation.
They support a variety of pressure-sensitive label materials, code printing methods, inspection systems, and reject mechanisms. Options include lot numbers, expiration dates, and 2D codes, with or without serialization. A label reconciler automatically removes out-of-tolerance labels before application.
Tool-less changeover enables fast transitions between syringe sizes or fills, without adjusting infeed or outfeed dials. An 18.5-in touchscreen HMI displays configurable linear and rotational settings. The cGMP-compliant design supports optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliance with audit trails, domain authentication, and data collection features.
