    TC620 Supreme Thread Milling Cutter Adds Countersink Option

    The TC620 Supreme thread milling cutter is a multi-row cutting tool designed for thread milling applications, featuring reduced cutting forces and enhanced dimensional accuracy. The cutter is now available with a countersink option that enables the production of 90-degree chamfers using axial movement.

    Thread sizes supported include M3 to M20, M4×0.5 to M20×1.5, UNC 8 to UNC 3/4, UNF 10 to UNF 3/4, and G 1/16 to G 1/2. Thread depths of up to 3 × DN are possible. The cutter is suitable for both blind-hole and through-hole threads in materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant super alloys up to 48 HRC (ISO P, M, K, N, and S groups).

    From M4, MF4, UNC 8, UNF 8, and G 1/16, the tool features Walter's DeVibe technology to reduce vibration and ensure stable machining under challenging or unstable conditions. It also features an internal coolant supply for efficient chip evacuation at high feed rates. The WB10TJ grade enhances performance across different workpiece materials.

    The application process includes positioning the cutter over the core hole, plunging to create a chamfer, lifting, and then machining a thread via helical interpolation. Entry and exit loops are used to bridge the row spacing and complete the threading operation. The design promotes a long tool life, fast machining times, and minimal need for radius corrections, resulting in a low cost per thread and high process reliability.
