Drivox∙tec IKON DD170 Supreme Drill Extends Tool Life in Steel
The Drivox∙tec IKON DD170 Supreme is a solid carbide drill for steel and cast-iron applications in the ISO P and K material groups. It features internal coolant delivery and a full radial margin to enhance process reliability in complex holemaking operations.
A Krato·tec-coated WJ30EY-grade body increases tool life. The full radial margin provides 360-degree cutting-edge support during cross-hole drilling or when exiting on an angle, without reducing feed rates. This margin also contributes to smooth surface finishes, high hole roundness, and vibration-free performance.
Twelve internal coolant grooves with a new profile improve chip evacuation and cooling, particularly in softer, gummy steels such as AISI 1010 or AISI 1018. These grooves also support more potential regrinding operations. The drill is compatible with emulsion and oil coolants and maintains tool life under higher feed conditions.
The variable clearance tip geometry provides strong centering capabilities and eliminates the need for pilot drilling up to 12 × Dc. The drill supports diameter ranges from 3 to 20 mm, including fractional inch sizes, and is available in several drilling depths:
- 3 × Dc (DIN 6537 short)
- 5 × Dc (DIN 6537 long)
- 8 × Dc (Walter standard)
- 12 × Dc (Walter Norm standard)
Target industries include mold and die making, mechanical engineering, automotive, aerospace, and energy.
