RSL 200 Safety Laser Scanner Enables Space-Saving Protection

June 4, 2025
Leuze’s RSL 200 safety laser scanner offers a 275-degree scanning angle and ultra-compact design for tight installation spaces.

The RSL 200 safety laser scanner is designed to safeguard machines, systems, automated guided vehicles, and autonomous mobile robots. With a scanning angle of 275 degrees and a compact form factor, it supports integration in space-constrained environments.

The scanner has a protective field operating range of up to 10 ft (3 m) and is suitable for both stationary and mobile applications. For stationary systems, configurable protective fields support area guarding and switchover capabilities, allowing the scanner to monitor multiple sides of a machine, including around corners. The rotatable M12 connection allows flexible cable routing and simplifies mounting, reducing required installation space and easing commissioning.

For mobile applications such as automated guided vehicles and omnidirectional robots, the scanner's 32 switchable protective and warning field sets adapt to varying paths, speeds, and load conditions. Only two scanners are required to monitor all directions. The RSL 200 is designed to withstand shock and vibration, making it suitable for moving systems.

A purpose-built mounting bracket enables quick horizontal and vertical alignment while minimizing footprint. Replacement is simple: the scanner can be swapped using just four screws without requiring realignment, thanks to a removable configuration memory that also allows rapid setup transfer.

Diagnostic and configuration options include Bluetooth and USB interfaces. Additionally, variants RSL 230 and higher support Ethernet TCP/IP. A companion mobile app provides remote access to status and diagnostic data without needing physical access to the device.
