Resin-Shielded Surface-Mount Inductors Reduce EMI and Size
Resin-Shielded Surface-Mount Power Inductors are compact components designed for applications requiring improved EMI protection and mechanical strength. These inductors use either ferrite or metal composite cores and feature a resin over-mold infused with magnetic powder that replaces the traditional ring core shielding.
The resin coating provides the shielding effect while also offering increased resistance to moisture, dust, and mechanical stress. This results in better overall durability and contributes to heat dissipation, which supports stable performance across wide temperature ranges.
The inductors are available in sizes ranging from 0.13 x 0.13 x 0.05 in (3.2 x 3.2 x 1.2 mm) to 0.33 x 0.33 x 0.17 in (8.3 x 8.3 x 4.2 mm), supporting a variety of design requirements.
Ferrite core options include the CDxxxxMB/DS 105°F series with 12 inductance values from 1 to 1,000 µH and saturation currents ranging from 2.2 to 13.6 A. The CDxxxxMB/DS 125°F series offers 42, 220, and 1,000 µH versions with saturation currents of 3, 4.7, and 13.7 A.
The CDxxxxME/DS Metal Composite Resin-Shielded Inductor Series, also rated for 125°F operation, includes three inductance values from 500 nH to 10 µH.
