The D4120 indexable insert drill combines superior performance, enhanced precision, and cost-effectiveness. The drills feature hardened and polished flutes that facilitate easy chip removal and high process reliability. The drill body features two independent thru-coolant channels that lead to a strong steel core and results in superior hole tolerances.
Precision in the hole diameter is also enhanced by balancing the cutting forces between the center and peripheral insert (geometries A57, E57, and E67). Costs of operation are kept lower because of four cutting edges and the long tool life characterized by Walter’s signature Tiger·tec Silver grades. The series includes drills with up to 4 x Dc in inch sizes, 5 x Dc metric, and in diameters up to 1.375 in. and 59 mm.
The combination of D4120 drill bodies and inserts with CVD and PVD grades WKP25S, WKP35S, WSP45, and WXP40 offers cost-efficient advantages and the greatest possible flexibility. The drills are ideal for difficult machining operations, such as cross holes, curved surface entry, chain drilling, and inclined entry and exits. They can be used in steels, stainless steels, cast irons, nonferrous materials, and superalloys (ISO materials P, M, K, N, and S). They have very good applicability in general metalworking, die and mold making, and the energy and automotive industries. Along with the standard dimensions, Walter also offers the D4120 in special dimensions via Walter Xpress rapid specials and quotations program.
