Fox Model FT2 Flowmeter Offers Wide Range of Communication and Interface Options

March 22, 2006

The Model FT2 directly measures mass flow rate of air and gases, and provides isolated 4-20 mA and pulse outputs for flow rate, as well as a 4-20 mA output for process gas temperature. Mass flow rate and totalized flow, elapsed time, process gas temperature and alarms are displayed on the meter’s 2 x 16 character backlit display. The display is also used in conjunction with the instrument’s configuration panel to program flow and temperature settings, pulse output frequency scaling, pipe area, zero flow cutoff, filtering (dampening), diagnostics and alarm limits.

The versatile microprocessor-based transmitter simplifies operations and helps reduce initial equipment cost with two convenient interface options. Using a laptop computer and FT2 View Software’s intuitive menuing system, the operator can change meter configuration, perform instrument diagnostics, collect process data and more. The Palm PDA interface offers similar functionality as the FT2 View Software, and is ideal for "walk- around" monitoring of process conditions.

The Model FT2’s PowerPro sensor operates at a higher power level than competitive models to improve low-velocity measurement accuracy and provide exceptional turndown (100:1 typical). Virtually immune to variations in temperature and pressure, the meter provides an accurate mass flow measurement under varying loads. Its rugged, no-moving parts design is also ideal for high-vibration environments.

The Model FT2 is available in both insertion-type and inline configurations (from 1/2-inch to 6-inch sizes) with built-in flow conditioning elements to reduce the need for long, straight pipe runs. Wetted materials are 316 stainless steel standard or optional Hastelloy C-276. A variety of input power, output signal, electronics enclosures, display and process connection options add flexibility, reliability and greater operator control capabilities to the Model FT2’s benefit package.• Pipe Size - 1-1/2" (40mm) to 2" (50mm) • Probe Length - 4-inch
