A new, universal positioning system that can be supplied with special end effectors for securely mounting and holding all types of devices has been introduced by Stafford Manufacturing Corp. of Wilmington, Massachusetts.Stafford’s Universal Positioning System lets users position and lock items in any plane and can be equipped with ball-end mounts or V-block clamps for securely holding video cameras, sensors, and other devices. Ideally suited for use on conveyors and packaging equipment, it provides unlimited degrees of positioning freedom and is very rigid and stable once locked in place.Consisting of a machined base that attaches to any flat surface and a series of stepped and straight-through couplings which accept 1/2”, 3/4”, and 1” precision shafts that can also mount onto guide rails, Stafford’s Universal Positioning System is easy to assemble, infinitely adjustable, and can adapt to various applications. Custom engineered end-effectors are optional.Stafford’s Universal Positioning System base, couplings, or mount are each priced at $18.00, depending upon quantity; and the shafts depend upon size or can be supplied by the user.
