Isolated Analog 0-10V and 4-20mA Load Cell Summing Transmitter

Sept. 30, 2008
Calex Mfg. Co., Inc. of Concord, California announces the availability of the Calex Model 4800. The Model 4800 Summing Transmitter is a cost effective highly versatile solution for multiple load cell systems. The 4800 can accept both AC & DC power inputs, power up to four load cells, provides three way isolation, and four output options. All input/output options are included on the 4800 as provided by the factory. The 4800 has the capability to be powered from 115VAC, 230VAC, or 11 to 30VDC. It has a built in excitation supply capable of delivering up to 120mA at 10 V, more than enough current to drive four 350 ohm load cells. The 4800 provides complete three-way signal isolation. The input is isolated from the output and both are isolated from the supply voltage, eliminating unwanted ground loop problems. The output options available on the 4800 are 0 to 20mA or 0 to 10V and 4 to 20mA or 2 to 10V. Overall accuracy over the normal room temperature range is excellent at <±0.1% of full scale. The high gain, low drift and low temperature coefficient of the 4800 amplifier allows full scale live load signals as low as 5 mV to be amplified to 20 mA or 10 V with an overall accuracy of ±0.1%. Designed with large and very stable tare offset requirements in mind, the 4800 can tare off up to 80 % of the output of a 3 mV/V load cell (at 10 V excitation). The dimensions of the stand alone unit are 9.0”L x 7.25”W x 2.2”H. All connections are made via easily accessible screw terminals. All potentiometers are located for ease of adjustment as well. The Model 4800 can be ordered with the choice of two NEMA enclosures or stand alone and is backed by Calex’s five year warranty.
