New 10KV Insulation Testers Offer Many Unique Features

March 11, 2009
Megger announces the introduction of two new products, the new S1-552 5kV insulation tester and the S1-1052 10kV insulation tester. Each instrument includes special noise suppression for use in high voltage substations or switchyards and are line or battery operated for extra testing flexibility in the field. The measurement range has been expanded to 15 T? on the S1-552 and 35 T? on the S1-1052 for improved insulation testing and better long-term trending of test results of higher value apparatus.

Both units automatically perform insulation resistance (IR), dielectric absorption ratio (DAR), polarization index (PI), step voltage (SV) and dielectric discharge (DD) tests. Other important features include storage of test results, data download using RS232 or USB, and an extra rugged enclosure with easy “how-to-use” instructions built into the lid. The S1-552 offers variable test voltages of 50 V to 1 kV in 10 V steps and 1 kV to 5 kV in 25 V steps. The S1-1052 offers the ability to step up the voltage in 10 V increments from 50 to 1000 V and in 25 V increments beyond 1000 V.Megger is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of test and measurement equipment used within the electric power, building wiring and telecommunication industries.
