Pres-On introduces its new U6400 double-coated, medium-density urethane foam tape designed for use by automotive, RV, truck and boat manufacturers to attach exterior trim components, as well as by furniture and window makers in a variety of light- to medium-weight applications. Use of U6400 tape instead of bolts and screws often eliminates steps in the trim installation process, resulting in fewer parts, better styling and reduced labor time. A cost-effective alternative to more expensive high-density taping products, Pres-On U6400 foam tapes exhibit high initial adhesion and long-term secure bonding to a variety of plastic, metal or powder painted surfaces. Offered in thicknesses ranging from .03125-inch to .25-inch and widths from .25 inch to 54-inches, the tape is uniformly coated on both sides with a high tack permanent acrylic, pressure-sensitive adhesive, making it ideal for adhering automotive body side moldings, rocker panel moldings, claddings, bumper trim and other trim components. Key to the tape's success is its open cell structure that assures the foam will return to its full thickness after being subjected to heavy compression. Pres-On engineers conducted a series of ASTM approved tests that found U6400 tape lost less than three- percent of its thickness following 22 hours of fifty percent compression, an important indicator of the tape's anti-vibration characteristics. Additional testing showed excellent tensile- and tear-strength, providing excellent long-term performance. Pres-On U6400 tape can be applied by hand or with a dispenser. In addition to standard sizes, Pres-On will customize the tape to meet specific product and design engineering requirements.
