Oct. 21, 2019
3PLs no doubt worked hard to exceed customer expectations by working smarter and better leveraging their knowledge, assets, people, and technology in a tumultuous year.

The supply chain disruptions in 2020 had a direct impact on the logistics industry, through labor shortages, broken supply lines, weak infrastructure, and the ambiguity of rules and regulations for moving goods throughout the world.

Due to this upheavel, theis sector of the industry is focused on flexibility through digitization and e-commerce as top priorities.

Overall, the logistics industry remained bouyant in 2020 with a slight decline in 3PL revenues, but still well above every previous year with the exception of 2018 and 2019.

According to Armstrong & Associates, it's expected that the 3PL industry will grow at a CAGR of 4.3%, which is slightly above the past decade rate of 4.1%. Global Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Market revenues reached $962 billion in 2020 resulting in a meager 0.1% increase over 2019, versus the U.S. 3PL Market which saw 8.8% year-over-year growth.
