High-Performance Microstepping Drive

April 11, 2019

Testra Corporation has added its exclusive SoftStep feature to its SS483A microstepping motor drive. This drive is a direct replacement for the recently discontinued Schneider IM483 drive series. SoftStep technology uses an on-board intelligent processor that treats the input steps as small vector moves at the maximum resolution. This gives ultra smooth, vibration-free operation regardless of the selected step size.

Using the IM483 footprint, Testra’s Model SS483A measures 2.75” (69.9 mm) x 3.00” (76.2 mm) x 1.20” (30.5 mm. Chopper stabilization gets rid of commutation discontinuities further reducing noise and increasing accuracy. Fourteen micro-step resolutions are offered (both binary and decimal) along with a wide range of connector options. Custom waveforms can be matched to individual motor characteristics to eliminate torque and velocity ripple. Input supply ranges from 12 to 48 VDC. output current up to 3A rms (4A peak). No minimum inductance. OEMs can design this drive into CNC and automation equipment as well as other motion control applications.
