April 22, 2006

Glacier Computer, a leading designer, developer, and supplier of rugged industrial PC-compatible devices, announces its new Kodiak Series Long Range and Extra Long Range industrial bar code laser scanners. Designed to meet the demands of tough industrial applications, the scanners are ideal for scanning labels that are both close up and at great distances.

“These scanners are the perfect compliment to our rugged GX Series industrial computers and Kodiak Series hand held computers,” said Don Berch, Glacier’s Director of Operations. “Our customers are looking for complete, reliable solutions to meet their data collection needs, and these scanners complete the Glacier product line.”

The Kodiak LR can read a 10 millimeter label as close as 7 inches and a 100 millimeter reflective label from as far as 22 feet away. The XLR model can read 20 millimeter labels as close as 28 inches and 100 millimeter reflective labels from as far away as 36 feet.

The Kodiak Series are built to withstand multiple 6.5 foot drops onto concrete, as well as rigorous vibration, humidity, and vibration specifications. Sealed to IP54, the scanners can tolerate intermittent rain showers and continue working. Kodiak Series scanners can interface with a PC via RS232, PS/2 keyboard wedge, or USB. Accessories include a take up reel, heated holder, forklift holster and universal kit.
