Temperature Monitor

March 9, 2011
ShockWatch  has announced the availability of its latest temperature monitoring innovation for goods in transit.  TempMark 8 merges industry demands for ascending and descending temperature monitoring with eight temperature thresholds and incorporates industry-unique recording functionalities to provide critical exposure data to manufacturers, handlers and receivers. By incorporating multiple pre-programmed alarm conditions both above and below the shipment’s temperature limits and monitoring the shipment as it is transported, the TempMark 8 empowers its users with increased knowledge about shipping conditions and product safety, while maintaining a price point far below that of a traditional recorder. “We’re so excited to offer the new TempMark 8 temperature monitoring device and we anticipate a high demand for this innovative and cost-effective solution,” said Dan Hafen, director of product management at ShockWatch. “The TempMark 8 product is a highly-accurate device that allows for increased accountability by providing the critical temperature profile information needed for complete cold chain management.”

For 90 days after activation, the TempMark 8 system is capable of displaying the total number of excursions per threshold, the length of the longest excursion and the cumulative duration of all excursions throughout the entire transport. With an accuracy of plus or minus .5 C, the TempMark 8 monitoring system is ideal for temperature-sensitive materials such as vaccines and pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceutical products and chemicals; however, it can also be used for non-pharmaceutical applications including frozen, refrigerated and fresh food shipping, live plant and animal shipping or electronic components and products.

ShockWatch’s TempMark 8 device is the first product to utilize a unique eight-temperature threshold monitoring system to track and report a product’s temperature conditions during shipping. TempMark 8 is able to monitor and record activity both above and below the determined temperature threshold for the product. An intuitive counter displayed in an LCD panel on the front of the device enables anyone who comes into contact with the monitor to quickly and easily assess which thresholds were exceeded during the shipping process as well as how many times it happened in order to determine any damage.

“The TempMark 8’s ability to record temperatures at eight critical thresholds will help to meet pharmaceutical compliance standards as well as foster higher standards in shipping and handling across many other industries,” said Angela Kerr, shipping and handling product manager at ShockWatch. “At ShockWatch, we are dedicated to helping our customers achieve new levels of efficiency and quality, and our innovative TempMark 8 temperature-monitoring device is a reliable product that allows for high-quality safeguarding of temperature-sensitive goods while in transit.”
