The machine includes a main and second turning spindle along with a milling spindle headstock for complete part production. The main spindle accommodates a 10 in chuck with a Y-axis stroke of 12 in (304.8 mm) and an X-axis stroke of 27 in (685.8 mm), for a maximum part diameter capacity of 26.38 in (670 mm). The main and second turning spindles operate at 4,000 rpm, while the milling spindle runs at 12,000 rpm (24 hp/22 kW) standard, with a 20,000 rpm (24 hp/22 kW) option available. The machine processes parts up to 59.80 in (1,519 mm) long on a 1500U-style bed, or up to 98 in (2,489.2 mm) long on a 2500U bed.

The machine runs on the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC control, which includes AI-powered technologies for programming and machining accuracy. Solid MAZATROL automatically generates programs from 3D part models. SMOOTH Ai Spindle automatically optimizes spindle speed based on sensor feedback to reduce machining vibration and improve part surface finishes. Ai Thermal Shield adapts to and learns from environmental changes to control the effects of heat on machining accuracy. The control also provides access to MAZATROL TWINS software, which creates synchronized digital twins of shop-floor machines, including SMOOTH Project Manager for job setups and SMOOTH CAM Ai, an open interface for CAD/CAM software packages.

For automation, the machine comes standard with an ergonomic front-mounted tool magazine compatible with overhead gantry loaders, unloaders and bar feed systems. Tool magazines can also be located at the rear of the machine, and optional retrofittable automatic front doors and robot interfaces allow the machine to accommodate floor-mounted robots.
