Densely packed control cabinets concentrate heat around critical electronics, and servicing a cabinet-mounted cooling unit often means opening an energized enclosure. The ActivCool DTS 5000 Series is a line of side-mount enclosure cooling units built for high-density electrical enclosures. Critical components are accessible from outside the cabinet, so maintenance can be performed without opening an energized panel, avoiding lockout/tagout procedures and reducing downtime.
Each unit uses a long internal air path that draws hot air from above heat-generating components and returns cooled air below them to keep enclosure temperatures uniform. A large evaporator coil supports increased airflow for high-density enclosures. The compact side-mount design fits most cabinets 12 in (305 mm) wide, and a preinstalled enclosure gasket reduces installation time.
The units come standard with R513A refrigerant, which carries an A1 nonflammable rating and helps users meet environmental regulations, including those affecting California and IT applications. Models are available in cooling capacities of 4,700 and 8,500 BTU/hr (1,377 and 2,491 W) to cover a range of heat loads, with Type 12, 3R, and 4X protection for dusty plant floors, washdown areas, and outdoor infrastructure.
Two interface versions are available. An LED status indicator version provides quick visual confirmation that the unit is running, while a digital display controller version allows temperature settings to be viewed and adjusted from outside the panel. The series is listed to UL 60335.
