E-Device Interface Brings OmniCore Robot Control to Tablets, PCs
Facilities running multiple robot models often face longer training times and inconsistent operator experiences when each machine relies on its own interface. ABB Robotics' E-Device is a compact safety interface that lets operators use their own tablet or PC to operate, program and monitor OmniCore-powered robots and cobots.
Built on the OmniCore User Interface, the device delivers the same full-featured robot interaction available on a robot teach pendant, whether accessed from a tablet, PC, or the pendant itself. The consistent interface across an OmniCore-powered robot and cobot lineup is intended to reduce training requirements and speed deployment. Users can also access RobotStudio, offline programming and simulation software, and AppStudio, a no-code tool for building application-specific screens, letting them develop, simulate and tailor applications away from the production line before connecting the device to the robot.
The E-Device and OmniCore UI together support a transition from simulation to deployment: a program can be built and simulated offline in an office, then the same tablet or PC can be carried to the production line to deploy it. Because the end device is mobile, operators can switch between different E-Device-equipped robots, a capability suited to multirobot facilities and training environments. Internet connectivity provides access to online resources such as manuals, and a built-in camera lets users capture troubleshooting images and save them directly to the robot's backup folder.
The E-Device integrates the physical safety controls required for manual robot operation, including an emergency-stop button and a three-position enabling switch. It is compliant with ISO 10218:2025 safety standards and is CE and UL certified.
