Meet the 2018 NED Innovation Finalists

Take a closer look at designs, features, and capabilities of the top 20 industrial innovations of the year.

It’s that time again. As we break in the New Year, we here at NED have taken a look back at all the innovations we have covered over the past 12 months. And clearly it has been an incredible year.

In 2017, we saw the Industrial Internet of Things mature and proliferate into nearly every component of manufacturing life; we saw 3D printing (even metal!) get simpler, cheaper, and more powerful; we saw tools and machines get smarter; we saw collaborative automation find its footing in the market; and, of course, we saw engineering genius play out in every conceivable market and field.

In the end, we were left with over 2,000 new products, solutions, components, and tools published last year, all of them designed to produce a bigger, brighter, more productive future for the industry.

And, as is our tradition, now is the time to celebrate the best of those innovations.

After pouring over a year’s worth of content, our New Equipment Digest team has identified what we agree are the top 20 most innovative industrial products of the year. These tools demonstrate the best of innovation—they create new markets, they expand capabilities, they provide much-needed improvements, and they offer solutions never seen before in this market.

And you can judge for yourself here, with the 2018 class of NED Innovation Award finalists.

Once you're done checking them out, head on over to our voting page to cast your vote for this year's NED Innovation Award champions. Two lucky voters will win free tickets to the 2018 IndustryWeek Manufacturing & Technology Conference and Expo in Raleigh, NC, May 8-10, where the winners will be announced.
