First off, we'd like to thank everyone who participated in our recent FLIR ONE thermal camera attachment giveaway, and of course, the bigge

st thanks go to FLIR Systems for the awesome prize. We received thousands of entries, and randomly selected Gilbert F. of Advanced Technology Company, which specializes in electron beam welding for aerospace applications.

We caught up with the facilities manager of the Pasadena, Calif., company to find out how he'll use the power of the infrared spectrum to help him do his job.

"I will use the [FLIR ONE] thermal camera to inspect switchgear and control cabinets of our equipment, as well as our HVAC systems for proper operation," he said. "I can also check thermal leaks on the doors of our ovens. I’m sure there are many more uses for this exciting piece of technology that I haven’t thought of yet. When I get my hands on it I’m sure the applications are endless."

Once Gilbert gets to play around with tool for a while, we'll check back with him and see what he thinks and see if he came up with any new inventive ways to use thermal in his job or at home.

Check back soon for our next giveaway, and if you have a suggestion for a cool new tool you think we should giveaway, please tell us in the comment section below. And if your company wants to get involved in a future contest, please email [email protected].
