In order to meet the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandate that each tablet or capsule be identifiable, it’s critical to be able to inspect the identification and eject bad items. In the past, Ackley Machine used cameras to acquire and a personal computer to process images on its tablet printing machines. But when a computer went down, the company had to upgrade to a new version of the Windows operating systems, which required a long and expensive validation process.
