Beacon Industries, Inc. is proud to present the Snake Dock Light, a flexible light which allows for high forklift impact. These units are ideal for use in busy distribution centers or other buildings with many loading docks. The unit’s flexible goose neck can be bent and positioned to shine light in various locations, lighting the entire trailer interior. The neck is constructed from stainless steel for a long lifespan. When not needed, the low profile snake dock light can be tucked into the space between the two docks and also allows more room for forklifts to move in and out of the trailer with their payload.
Unlike standard dock lights, these units are designed to move out of the way when hit, meaning fewer broken lights and costly replacements. Snake dock lights are 27” long in order to easily reach high or low. Two models are available: standard incandescent or energy-saving LED. Incandescent bulbs are readily available in your local hardware store and have a low initial cost. Some dock lights require specific bulbs that only that manufacturer sells. These light bulbs are often expensive, and replacing them can be a pain.
With the Beacon snake dock light, standard incandescent lights can be used. Many distribution centers have their own stock of incandescent bulbs, so that when lights burn out or are accidentally broken, they can be replaced quickly and at almost no cost. An optional LED model is available. While LED lights are currently more expensive upfront, they are able to operate on just 18-watts of power while providing the same amount of light as a 150-watt incandescent bulb. LED bulbs also have a much longer lifespan than standard bulbs—50,000 hours or more versus as few at 750 hours. For loading docks concerned about energy efficiency, LED lights can be a good investment. Snake dock lights feature a six-foot-long power cord complete with strain relief and ending in a NEMA 5-15 plug. The unit is also UL-listed. These lightweight models only weigh 7 or 8 pounds. This equipment can be quickly and easily mounted. Another use for this type of snake dock lights is to provide workers with extra light that can be easily positioned in work areas or around machinery.
