AGATHON Machine Tools, Inc. offers a totally new DOM Semi highly precise 4-axis grinding center for ISO standard indexable inserts for periphery grinding including K-Lands on one side for various materials such as tungsten carbide, ceramics, CBN and more. Designed with simple programming requirements, the DOM Semi allows for faster set-up to suit today’s frequent changes from small batches to large production runs. 

DOM Semi features include newly designed infeed axis with a linear motor, new Polymer concrete machine base for excellent vibration dampening, latest WINDOWS operating system and newest machine safety systems, fully enclosed grinding area to keep all moving axes and handling system in a totally dry environment, all resulting in higher reliability, faster operation and lower operation costs. As an added benefit, all programs from previous generation Agathon machines can be easily transferred for use with the new DOM Semi. In addition, up to 4 workpiece trays can be stored in the machine’s tray area. 

The auto-handling of each workpiece takes place during the grinding by means of a fully integrated pick & place linear handling system. Finished inserts can be separated from rough blanks and put back into different trays providing new efficiencies for new production economies.
