Infrared Temperature Sensors
Supplier: Williamson Corporation
Williamson Corporation’s Pro 100 and Pro 200 Series multi-wavelength infrared temperature sensors are ideal for a multitude of industrial applications where devices such as thermocouples and RTDs would be inaccurate, too slow, or difficult to use. In challenging conditions, such as dirty windows, smoke, steam, plasma coatings, dust, water spray, partially obstructed fields of view, or small or wandering targets, these sensors outperform all others. Sample applications include metal forging, casting, milling, finishing, and heat treating; thermal reactors; flares; boilers; incinerators; kilns; and glass forming.
Pro 100 and Pro 200 multi-wavelength sensors use ESP algorithms to provide “aim-and-read” capabilities for non-greybody materials (annealed, galvannealed, and stainless steel; aluminum; brass; copper; zinc; etc.) that are not accurately measured by single- or dual-wavelength sensors because their change in emissivity varies by wavelength. The sensors measure the amount of infrared energy emitted by an object’s surface, then convert this signal into a temperature value between 200° and 4500° F (between 95° and 2500° C). Accuracy is within 2° C or 0.25% of the reading (whichever is greater).
Pro 100 sensors utilize visual or integrated-laser aiming alignment. Pro 200 sensors utilize fiber-optic alignment, with an integrated aim light available as an option. All models carry a 2-year warranty.
Every Pro 100 and Pro 200 sensor can be used as a stand-alone transmitter with a choice of inputs, outputs, and alarms. For more advanced capabilities, remote interface modules, PID controllers, and PC software programs are available. When in the stand-alone mode, the sensor’s local interface is used to display the temperature and adjust sensor settings from an intuitive text-based menu. Units are compatible with bidirectional RS232 and RS485 communications as well as 4-20mA and voltage-sensor outputs, which may be programmed with a choice of up to five different measured parameters.
Williamson offers a choice of wide-angle or high-resolution optics and many accessories, including swivel mounting brackets, flange mounts, water-cooling hardware, and rugged hazardous-area enclosures.
