Panasonic today announced the introduction of a new cordless screwdriver to its line-up of cordless assembly tools. Lightweight and fast, the new 7.2 V tool features torque accuracy of +/- 5%, providing consistent tightening even as the battery reaches the end of the charge cycle. The new 7.2 V screwdriver has been designed with ergonomics, speed and accuracy as a priority. It achieves a high speed of 900 rpm which is 1.5 times faster than its predecessor. As a result, it completes jobs faster. A clutch lock cover helps prevent unintended torque or speed adjustments.
“Our focus and goal has always been to produce the safest, most productive and easiest to use power tools possible. With the introduction of this new drill, Panasonic has produced another power tool that meets those high standards,” said John Olson, Panasonic’s Industrial Sales Manager. “We are pleased to provide workers, especially those doing assembly work, with a tool that will improve their efficiency, enabling them to work faster and safer.”
The screwdriver comes in two versions – EYFEA1N2S (suggested retail $386) that includes two battery packs, charger and clutch-lock cover. The EYFEA1N (suggested retail $194), includes the tool body and clutch-lock cover.
Among the numerous features of the new 7.2 V Panasonic Screwdriver is Low-Battery Shut-Off which automatically disables the tool before the battery power is reduced to the point where accurate torque can not be maintained. When the Low Battery Shut-Off engages, shutting the tool off, the LED indicator light blinks notifying the operator to recharge the battery before proceeding.
The Auto Stop Clutch turns the tool off when the preset torque is reached. This assures that the screw is fastened with an accuracy of +/- 5%. Depending on application the EYFEA1N2S/EUEA1N can be adjusted from a low speed of 300 rpm to a high speed of 900 rpm. Torque settings range from 2.7 in. lbs. to 35.4 in. lbs. ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and productivity.
Weighing just 1.38 pounds, the tool also features a high capacity 1.5 Ah-Li-ion battery that can be charged for use in 35 minutes and achieves a full charge in 60 minutes. The battery pack also delivers high output with low heat generation resulting in longer lifetime and total performance. The drill/driver utilizes Panasonic’s unique GuardION system that monitors the battery cells during charging and tool use to prevent over discharging and overheating of the battery pack to ensure long life.
An ergonomic design delivers a comfortable contoured grip which allows for less fatigue over extended use. The convenient location of the variable speed control trigger and forward/reverse switch permits one hand operation and an LED work light illuminates the work area.
