Whirlpool Canada Named 2014 ENERGY STAR Manufacturer of the Year

Whirlpool, which helped to draft the first ENERGY STAR appliance standards, has reduced its absolute GHG emissions by 6.6% from 2003-2012.

The Natural Resources Canada announced on Oct. 14 that Whirlpool Canada received its 2014 ENERGY STAR Manufacturer of the Year award

The award recognizes achievements that advance market transformation related to energy efficiency.

"We are proud to receive this Manufacturer of the Year award, and proud of our long-term commitment to the ENERGY STAR program in Canada," said Gary Power, vice president and general manager, Whirlpool Canada.

Whirlpool, which helped to draft the first ENERGY STAR appliance standards, has reduced its absolute GHG emissions by 6.6% from 2003-2012.

Whirlpool Canada markets 350 models of ENERGY STAR qualified washers, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers – 80% of the company's overall offerings. In June Whirlpool introduced the first ENERGY STAR certified clothes dryer.
