DMPU Series Motor Protection System. is a modular electronic motor protection relay to control, monitor and protect the performance of 3-phase constant or dual speed, AC induction motors. The DMPU device measures electrical motor variables (voltage, current, harmonic distortion, power, energy and earth leakage current), monitoring overloads through the thermal model, controlling them and measuring other variables, such as motor and bearing temperature. Finally it includes a data logger function for storing trends of the electrical variables, alarms and fast data logging for storing start-up profiles.

Through the communication features, it is possible to transmit all monitored variables to a supervision control system for data collection and process control. Profibus and Modbus TCP/IP protocols are available to easily insert the DMPU Series into a majority of applications. The HMI operator interface is freely programmable and can show instantaneous values and alarm messages. Windows based DMPU-PS configuration and monitoring software, simplifies plant design through graphic block configuration and connection, where the blocks are all the variables that can be used, as inputs, outputs, ANSI function, electrical and temperature variables, logical functions, timers and counters.

The DMPU Series allows protection of the motor against damage due to thermal effect taking place during overload condition. The protection trips when motor temperature exceeds calculated TCU parameter as well as optional temperature measurements and electrical variables. The DMPU implements several ANSI functions to protect motor from operation that may damage it. For example ANSI 46 (motor inverse current), ANSI 51 LR and ANSI 48 (locked or stalled rotor) and ANSI 46 (earth leakage) are among few that are supported. All control functions such as start, stop, reverse, star-delta control and alarm indication are possible with push buttons, touch screen HMIs or communications. Modular, concept with these modules available:

DMPUT-MBT: Modbus TCP/IP communication

DMPU-PRB: Profibus communication

DMPU-05: Current and voltage measurements

DMPU-R2: 2 temperature or digital input & 2 outputs

DMPU-EL: Earth leakage module

Nexen Group Inc

Nexen Group introduces its new FMBS line of flange-mounted, spring-engaged safety brakes with high thermal capacity for NEMA C-Face motors and gear reducers to meet demanding high cycle palletizing material handling applications. With continuous thermal dissipation, these brakes are able to stop more kinetic energy without overheating.

Nexen FMBS brakes are available in two models that provide out-of-box torque from 1080 in-lbs to 1800 in-lbs and burnished torque from 1300 in-lbs up to 2160 in-lbs, with release pressures of 55 psi and 90 psi and a maximum pressure of 120 psi. Both models feature a top speed of 1800 rpms and zero backlash input.

FMBS brakes mount to NEMA C-Face motors and feature a series of springs that push a “pressure plate” against the friction surface of the brake’s disc-hub, resulting in a thrust force on the disc-hub that produces enough torque to stop and hold the load. These brakes remain engaged until air pressure is applied to compress the springs and opens a gap at the interface.

Engineered for efficiency and durability, FMBS’s open-housing design and finned rotor remove heat generated at the brake’s friction interface, enabling higher torque and increased cycle rates to increase productivity and decrease downtime. Further, they include programming logic on deceleration to ensure that over-lap dynamic stopping occurs. FMBS brakes also have two bearings supporting the output shaft, which provides superior overhung load capacity for right-angle drive applications.

DryLin® ZLW belt driven linear actuators are a low-cost, short lead-time alternative to traditional re-circulating ball bearing systems. igus® DryLin products are engineered with wear-resistant, dry-running, oil-free linear bearings which do not require any maintenance. These systems are ideal for quickly positioning small to medium loads at high speeds up to 16.4 ft./s (5 m/s), even at stroke lengths up to 9.84 feet (3000mm). New larger ZLW-1660 profiles add even higher radial load capabilities up to (2000N) 450 lbs., for applications requiring even more robust stages.

Since the parts operate as sliding systems as opposed to rolling systems, extremely high accelerations are possible without galling or damaging the guide rails –which help increase machinery throughput. All igus DryLin ZLW belt driven systems are based on hard-anodized aluminum guide rail profiles, which offer the ideal mating surface for the linear bearing liners. Several linear bearing housings are available including low-cost zinc-castings, lightweight and corrosion-resistant hard-anodized aluminum machined parts, as well as adjustable versions (WJUME) which allow the flexibility to eliminate or increase the linear bearing clearance, per application requirements. Most igus DryLin ZLW belt driven actuators are available as a standard version, offering higher speed and load carrying capabilities, or as a low-cost basic version, offering aggressively lower costs with only slightly limited performance.

The standard versions use steel-reinforced polyurethane geared belts and several machined metal components versus the low-cost basic version which use glass-filled neoprene belts and rely on more injection-molded plastic components to help lower the costs.
