Turning Center

The Mazak QUICK TURN SMART (QTS) 200M CNC Turning Center increases productivity by reducing the number of setups required to process workpieces. The machine provides multi-tasking capability, fast axis feedrates and quick easy programming with Mazak’s SMART control. All of which makes the machine ideal for job shops and other high production environments. The QUICK TURN SMART 200M's headstock features a 25-hp, 5,000-rpm integrated spindle motor with a 2.56” spindle bore that is optimized for machining performance. The machine utilizes a 12-position drum turret, and for multi-tasking, a 7.5 hp, 4,500-rpm (7.5-hp 6,000-rpm optional) rotary tool spindle makes it possible to also mill, drill and tap workpieces. As part of Mazak’s Five Levels of Multi-Tasking, the QUICK TURN SMART 200M is a Level 1 machine – those providing single spindle and rotating tool capabilities. Mazak’s Five Levels of Multi-Tasking allow manufacturers to precisely match machine capabilities to part processing requirements.

Machine features and functionalities within the other four levels range from Level 2 with Y-axis off-center machining and Level 3 machines featuring independent milling spindle headstocks with B-axis indexing, as well as full Y-axis travels and tool storage, to Level 4 machines with full simultaneous 5-axis capability and Level 5 Ultra-Tasking machines with additional specialized machining functions and Multi-Tasking automation. The QUICK TURN SMART utilizes the Mazak MX Hybrid Roller Guide System on the X- and Z-axes to ensure high rigidity and smooth cutting. The machine also features X-axis ball screw pretension for high accuracy. Additionally, the machine is very reliable, particularly when set up for long runs with an automatic bar-feeder system.

The MX Hybrid Roller Guide System delivers high levels of durability and reliability that result in long-term accuracy. The system reduces vibration to extend tool life, handles higher load capacities, accelerates and decelerates quicker to shorten cycle times, consumes less lubricant for “Greener” operations, and lasts longer with less required maintenance. The Mazak SMART CNC control simplifies turning operations on the QUICK TURN SMART 200M. The control is designed for ease of operation and offers a 10.4" LCD color display and the familiar QWERTY keyboard. A pointing device, acting like a mouse, is also at the operator’s fingertips. Conversational part programming can also be accomplished. Mazak SMART control also accepts EIA/ISO programs. The machine also features an NC servo-driven tailstock to enable automated processes. The tailstock is fully programmable, driving the W-axis on its own AC servomotor and ball screw. Through the part program, the tailstock will retract to a known position and its center makes contact with the part with consistent holding pressure. Further, because of its positive independent drive system, the tailstock can be used to drill holes on a shaft centerline adding versatility to the jobs it can process.

Pneumatic/Hydraulic Pump

A new, hand operated Pneumatic/Hydraulic Pump has been introduced by Kurt Workholding for use with its hydraulic vises, cluster towers and swing clamps. Machinists now have a choice of foot or hand operated pumps to provide constant pressure to their hydraulic workholding setups. Compact, portable and lightweight, this new hand-operated 5000 PSI Air Hydraulic Pump provides constant hydraulic pressure and holding power for a wide range of precision clamping applications. The new pump model is driven by a high efficiency, one horsepower pneumatic motor and operated with a convenient, easy-to-use hand operated switch lever. The pump maintains constant pressure when the lever is actuated regardless of system pressure, ensuring accurate and repeatable clamping pressure with every clamping cycle.

Designed for single acting systems, both hand and foot operated pump models give Kurt Hydraulic workholding users a pump design that operates effectively and efficiently with all of its Hydraulic products. Weighing just 22 lbs., both model pumps can be easily moved and reconnected from one clamping station to another. Also available from Kurt is an electric operated pump with 5000 PSI when shop air is not available. This pump has a dump feature that allows you to shuttle pallets in and out of a CNC without the pressure lines attached. It has an adjustable pressure range of 580-5000psi. The pump is self-contained with easy to read features including the fill level and pressure gauge.

Metal-Cored Wire

Hobart® has introduced a new gas-shielded metal-cored wire to its growing portfolio of innovative filler metals. The FabCOR® F6 wire provides higher deposition rates and faster travel speeds than solid wires to help increase productivity on single-pass, flat and horizontal welding applications. It also offers deposition efficiencies similar to solid wire, but with reduced spatter to minimize clean up.

Specifically designed for welding on galvanized or thin-gauge steels FabCOR F6 wire is ideal for automotive and transportation applications, and it is optimal for automated and mechanized applications. It also excels at welding on aluminized and zinc-coated steels, fencing or railings and in HVAC fabrication. Like other Hobart metal-cored wires, the FabCOR F6 wire offers excellent arc characteristics that result in consistent welds and reliable gap-bridging capabilities. Plus, its exceptionally low sub-surface porosity supports consistent weld quality. Formulated and intended for use with DCEN polarity, the FabCOR 6 wire assures minimal risk of burn-through that could lead to costly rework.

In addition, the high-strength weld deposits provided by the wire maintain their ductility and impact toughness, and with that minimize the opportunity for cracking. The FabCOR F6 wire operates with a 75 to 95 percent argon/CO2 balanced shielding gas, resulting in welds with 76,000 to 76,500 psi tensile strength and exceeding the specifications set forth by the American Welding Society (AWS).The wire is available in 0.035-, 0.039- and .045-inch diameters on either a 33-pound spools or in the exclusive Hobart 750-pound X-Pak. The X-Pak is a precision wire payout drum designed specifically for automatic and robotic welding, and provides straighter wire feeding, better joint tracking and higher weld quality due to the arc’s consistent focus.

High Performance Tapping Fluid

TapRite™III Tapping Fluid features an advanced formulation for demanding tapping and threading applications in ferrous metals. It provides increased tap life and excellent lubricity in steel alloys and other severe uses as well as mild steels. TapRite III fluid is a chlorinated oil / wax gel concentrate. It clings to the tap to reduce waste, but is easier to remove from parts and hands than other widely-used tapping fluids.

It can be used straight or can be diluted with mineral oil or spirits for less demanding applications. Composite clad metal wire can be formulated to improve the performance characteristics of precious metal solid wire at a small fraction the cost. Ideal for tool manufacturers, grinding wheel manufacturers, and production grinding facilities, the economical Rush Model FC-250W Diamond / CBN Wheel Truing and Dressing Machine is designed for truing and dressing of flats, angles, and radii on diamond and CBN single wheels and multiple wheel packs. The Model FC-250W allows for increased efficiency and accuracy by profiling, modifying profiles and truing wheels properly - offline of the production grinding machinery.
