Cartridge Dust Collector Filters Brochure

Camfil Air Pollution Control (APC) has published a new brochure that describes how to calculate "Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)" for cartridge dust collector filters. Manufacturing professionals can use the methodology in the brochure to select filters that will save money while improving performance. TCO identifies and calculates the main components of true filter cost: energy, consumables, and maintenance and disposal. Similar to life-cycle costing, a TCO evaluation is much more useful than just comparing initial filter prices because it determines what it really costs to own dust collector filters over time.

The four-page brochure takes the reader through the process step-by-step, providing sample calculations and offering energy-saving tips. It helps readers to select the most economical and sustainable filters for a dust collection application.

Dust Collection System

The DC Series high-volume dust collection system provides facility-wide collection and high-efficiency filtration of airborne dusts generated during bulk material processing and packaging operations. The DC Series is constructed with seam-welded panels to eliminate filter by-pass and the escape of dirty air back into the facility that may occur with bolt-on panel construction. The direct-drive motor/blower design eliminates drive belt replacement, reducing maintenance downtime and costs.

More efficient than constant-speed blower designs, the variable frequency drive blower, available on the DC Series, reduces total in-use power consumption by modulating fan speed while maintaining the required static pressure during the fluctuating power needs of an application. The Vibra-Pulse® filter cleaning system extends filter life and reduces replacement costs by combining compressed air and a high-pressure, random-motion impactor hose to knock dirt out from deep within the filter pleats and return the filter to its original holding capacity. DC Series units offer air flow levels from 600 to 6,800 cubic feet per minute (CFM).

Vacuum Dehydration Oil Purification System

Oil Filtration Systems has announced a new series of oil purification equipment to remove water, particulate, entrained gases and varnish from hydraulic and lubrication oils. The Vacuum Dehydration Oil Purification System (VDOPS) helps extend the life of rotating equipment by maintaining optimal fluid cleanliness and original oil viscosity. By cleaning contaminated oil with the system, operators can minimize downtime, improve equipment performance and save money on lubricants. The Vacuum Dehydrator (VDOPS) employs a unique vacuum distillation tower design and high CFM vacuum pump to extract virtually all water contamination from oil, including free, emulsified and dissolved water.

Very low overall water content — as low as 20 ppm — can be achieved in hours. Entrained gases such as benzene, propane and methane are also effectively removed by the vacuum distillation process. Additionally, the VDOPS vacuum dehydrators use high efficiency pleated microglass filter elements to remove particulates from oil. Particle counts to meet or exceed ISO 14/13/11 can be achieved. For applications that require varnish removal from oil, optional “granular adsorbent media” can be employed to remove soluble varnish. These units are commonly used for turbine or hydraulic oil to achieve an MPC value of 15 or lower. VDOPS units are available in a wide range of configurations and flow rates. Typical applications are for ISO 32 turbine lube oil, hydraulic oil, paper machine oil, gear oil, compressor oil, EHC fluid (Fyrquel® and other phosphate esters), bio-diesel, waste oil (used engine oil) and heavy fuel oil.

Downdraft Tables

Denray downdraft tables are ideal to help protect workers from hazardous smoke, fumes and particles generated during grinding, welding or sanding operations. They are designed to pass the pollutants and sparks over water pans to protect the filters and reduce any fire risk. Flame-retardant cartridge filters are standard. They are made of 100% spunbond polyester and remove particulate down to 0.5 micron with a 99.95% efficiency rate. Denray's "Jet Pulse" system cleans the filters using compressed air, dislodging the particles from the filters and into the collection drawer. The frequency of the cleaning can be controlled with the Jet Pulse's push button cleaning feature or an optional automatic timer. Other bag or cartridge filter systems are also available.

The standard table top is a 1/4" steel plate. Strategically placed holes around the top's perimeter create a higher air flow near the spark shield and operator work area. A fiberglass grating is offered or rubber matting can be supplied for protecting polished products. Denray Downdraft Tables are available from a 26" X 35" size, for small or single work cells, to their large 48" X 96" table. Additional options include mufflers, casters, auto-timers, HEPA and carbon filters.
