Here's the good news: China isn't the manufacturing powerhouse it once was. The latest example is the HSBC China manufacturing purchasing managers index for September, which barely edged higher and fell short of economists' expectations.
However, the reshoring trend isn't necessarily a win for American and Canadian factories. Only those tuned to profitably handle the kind of high-capacity, low-cost jobs that once made a home in China can expect to earn more business.
