Nordson EFD, a manufacturer of fluid-dispensing systems for benchtop assembly processes and automated assembly lines, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2013.
A business unit of Nordson Corp., the company said it will acknowledge the milestone through a global PR campaign and special customer incentives.
"This year marks 50 years of commitment to developing innovative technologies that help our global customers build their own products better, faster and more cost-effectively," said Ken Forden, Nordson EFD vice president and general manager.
The company began doing business in 1963 as EFD Inc. Westlake, Ohio-based Nordson Corp., which makes equipment for material dispensing, surface preparation, injection molding, testing and other manufacturing applications, purchased the company in 2000.
Nordson EFD has more than 600 employees.
Thousands of manufacturers throughout the world use the company's dispensing equipment to apply controlled amounts of the adhesives, lubricants and other fluids used to assemble a variety of products, ranging from small medical devices to mobile phones to commercial aircraft, according to Nordson EFD.
"The recent enhancements to our PICO dispensing systems are a good example of our focus on understanding and anticipating the fluid-management needs of the companies and industries we serve," Forden said in a news release.
"We more than tripled their speed so they can operate continuously at up to 500 cycles per second – making them the fastest piezoelectric valves in the industry. This will help high-volume manufacturers who run their production lines 24/7 make more product in less time than ever before."
