The Reusable Packaging Association is accepting submissions for its second-annual Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award.
"The award is designed to recognize companies that have developed, supported or implemented measurable and innovative reusable solutions in a business-to-business supply chain," the Arlington, Va.-based association said in a news release.
Association members and non-members are eligible to enter. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 21.
Zeeland, Mich.-based furniture manufacturer Herman Miller Inc. won the award in 2012 for a reusable-packaging initiative that is saving the company $46,000 in annual material and labor costs.
"The strongest submissions in 2012 detailed measurable outcomes that resulted from the application of reusable products and services," said Jerry Welcome, president of the Reusable Packaging Association.
"Last year, we had a nice array of submissions from different markets and also from companies outside the U.S.. We strongly encourage end users and suppliers from all industries to enter the competition."
An independent committee of judges – who are not members of the association – will review the submissions.
Companies will be judged on the quantifiable environmental and economic benefits of their reusable-packaging solutions and services.
Submission forms are available on the Reusable Packaging Association website.
