The National Association of Manufacturers has appointed Duncan Gillis to its board of directors.
Gillis is the president and CEO of John Crane, a Chicago-based manufacturer of mechanical seals, couplings, bearings and other engineered products for the process industries.
National Association of Manufacturers CEO Jay Timmons called Gillis "a great addition" to the association's board.
"John Crane employs more than 7,000 employees, and Duncan's leadership with such a highly respected global manufacturer will be a tremendous benefit to the mission of the NAM," Timmons said in a news release.
Gillis took the helm of Crane Group in October 2012.
Prior to the Crane Group, Gillis was president and CEO of Baltimore-based Algeco Scotsman Group and held leadership positions with United Technologies Corp., Procter & Gamble Co. and McKinsey & Co.
The NAM "is a leading advocate for a policy agenda that helps manufacturers like John Crane compete globally, while we build prospering communities across our nation by creating jobs and a strong economy," Gillis said in a news release.
John Crane is part of London-based Smiths Group PLC.
