CERAMACAST 584 HIGH-TEMP QUICK-SET POTTING COMPOUND
Supplier: Aremco Products Inc Part Number 584
Ceramacast 584, a new high temperature, quick-setting ceramic compound developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to pot heaters and thermocouples and cast small, high strength parts used inapplications to 2800ºF (1535ºC). Ceramacast 584 is a magnesium oxide based, silica-bonded, quick-setting ceramic compound ideal for potting high temperature electrical components such as cartridge heaters and temperature sensors and casting small high temperature components for applications to 2800°F (1535°C). Ceramacast 584 exhibits exceptional electrical and mechanical properties. The dielectric strength and volume resistivity are 100 volts/mil and 109 ohm-cm, respectively. The compressive strength is 4,500 psi and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is 6.5 (11.7) ppm/oF (oC). Ceramacast 584 is supplied as a kit consisting of the 584-P Powder and 584-L Liquid Binder. It is easily mixed to a paste-like consistency in a ratio of 100 parts powder to 25 parts liquid binder, setting within 5-10 minutes at room temperature. A full cure is achieved by step curing for 2 hours each at 200°F and 250°F, respectively. Cured product exhibits a porosity of less than 6% and shrinkage of less than 4% at 1000°F. Ceramacast 584 is supplied from stock in quart, gallon and five gallon kits.
