CERAMABOND 890 HIGH TEMP SILICON CARBIDE ADHESIVE
Friday, February 12, 2010

Ceramabondtm 890, a new, ultra high temperature, phosphate-bonded, silicon carbide adhesive developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to produce high strength bonds in silicon carbide and nitride-bonded silicon carbide components to 2500 oF (1371 oC). Ceramabondtm 890 is an ultra high temperature, phosphate-bonded, silicon carbide filled, waterbased formulation that bonds aggressively to silicon carbide and nitride-bonded silicon carbide products. It is supplied as a single part, dispensable paste that is ideally suited for automatic dispensing systems. Ceramabondtm 890 offers exceptional mechanical and thermal properties. Typical properties include an operating temperature resistance of 2500 oF (1371 oC) and tensile-shear strength of 500-600 psi after exposure to 1000 oF. Ceramabondtm 890 is applied easily using a hand-tool or automatic dispensing system. A full cure is accomplished by heating for 2 hours each at 200 oF, 500 oF and 700 oF, respectively. Shrinkage upon curing is less than 1%. Cleanup of uncured residue is achieved easily using warm water and soap. Ceramabondtm 890 is an inert material that exhibits no outgassing upon curing. It also demonstrates good resistance to moisture and thermal shock. Ceramabondtm 890 is available from stock in pint, quart, and gallon containers.
