Hamar Laser Instruments, Inc. has introduced a new mid-priced 3-axis shaft alignment system — the S-670 Stealth Series™ — that simplifies the task of detecting and correcting misaligned shafts and couplings. Designed to be simple and easy for beginners to use — but sophisticated enough for the most advanced — the S-670 fixes misaligned motors, pumps, compressors, gear boxes and other shafted components. With a detector error of <0.3%, it is also the most accurate system in its class. According to Rod Hamar, “We put a lot of time and effort into designing a shaft alignment system that is so easy to use that it requires virtually no training. With our 5-step menu and built-in electronic help-text, the S-670 can be used 'right out of the box' to align a motor in record time. If a user forgets how to operate it, he or she simply opens help-text and prompts show how to do the alignment.” The S-670 is a lower-cost version of Hamar's ultra-precise S-680 shaft alignment system, making the S-670 suitable for most general shaft alignment applications not requiring the 5-Axis capabilities or 0.5 micron resolution of the S-680 system. A next-generation laser-based shaft alignment system, the S-670 Series™ features the latest in super-linear PSD technology, wireless communication and many design innovations that make it the most feature-rich, accurate and reasonably-priced system available on the market today. The S-670's 1-axis super-linear PSD technology provides 1.0 micron resolution with a measuring range of 30 mm. Hamar's patented Dual Beam™ Detector technology allows measurement of both center and angle simultaneously using only one PSD, thus eliminating potential measurement errors when two PSD’s are used.
