Parker Hannifin Corporation, Electromechanical Div:
Gen II Helical Planetary Gearheads Enhance Performance
Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Parker’s Electromechanical Automation Division, a leading supplier of motion control technology, announces the release of the Gen II Helical Planetary Gearheads.
The Stealth Gen II Gearheads provide performance enhancements that include higher radial load capacities (four times greater in some cases) and increased service life (nearly double) resulting from the incorporation of more robust bearing support, dual angular contact bearings to support the output carrier, full complement needle bearings to support the planet gears and optimized gearing geometries. Internal design changes allow for one fill level for any orientation, resulting in shortened part number designation and simplified order placement.
The redesign incorporates a simplified motor mounting kit design, which will enhance Parker’s ability to build to stock allowing for quicker deliveries (potentially same day). Parker’s distribution channel will have a similar advantage, since gearheads of specific frame size and ratio could be stocked, then upon receipt of customer orders, a separate mounting kit could be pulled from their stock or delivered immediately from Parker Bayside. The new “universal” mounting kits (designated “MU”) are designed to be used across multiple product lines; therefore, axes that demand high precision -- Stealth Gen II (PS, RS), mid-range precision Stealth Gen II (PX, RX) and lower precision (PV) -- utilize the same mounting kit part numbers within the same frame size.
