Beckhoff Automation LLC: Space-Saving Beckhoff CP72xx Panel PCs – The New “All-in-One” Controller/Display Solution

Beckhoff Automation has announced the CP72xx line of Intel® M-Class Panel PCs, providing industrial applications integrated controllers with the most robust and high tech displays available.

These high-performance Panel PCs are designed for simple mounting arm installation and integrate all features required for HMI hardware and advanced PC-based machine control - all in an ultra-compact, slimline housing designed for optimum user-friendliness.

Available in screen sizes of 12", 15" or 19", the IP 65 protected water- and dust-proof Panel PCs feature aluminum housings with high-end motherboards developed by Beckhoff. Powerful, yet compact PC components save valuable space, resulting in a housing depth of just 98 mm. These Panel PCs come with a powerful 1.5 GHz Intel® Celeron® M processor as standard and can be optionally equipped with Intel® Pentium® M processors up to 1.8 GHz. During the second half of 2007, the CP72xx will also be available with industrialized Intel® Core™ Duo or Core™ 2 Duo processors up to 2.16 GHz.

The Industrial PC connections (up to five) with IP 65 connectors are positioned in a large wiring space and are easily accessible. The connections can be accessed quickly without having to remove the device from the mounting arm. The CP72xx has two independent Ethernet interfaces, making it an ideal compact central processing unit for an EtherCAT control system. A Gigabit port is available for the connection to the higher-level network.

The CP72xx features a free Mini-PCI slot. If the free slot is used to include a Beckhoff Mini-PCI fieldbus card, the CP72xx becomes a high-performance master for conventional fieldbus systems such as PROFIBUS, CANopen, DeviceNet, or SERCOS interface. As a further option, a Mini-PCI fieldbus card with a third Ethernet port can be used.
The CP72xx series Panel PCs are supplied with a 24 V power supply unit, with an optional integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and an external battery pack. In its basic configuration, the Panel PC features Windows CE. With a larger Compact Flash card, Windows XP Embedded can be installed as an option. Windows XP Professional can be installed with a hard drive. The modular device design enables the use of two hard drives or a combination of Compact Flash card and hard drive.
